Finally.
After a few long and miserable hours trying to figure out why my blog code didn't seem to work, I finally temporarily resolved it. For now.
How different it looks from the design I had in mind. Then again, ain't That life?
Well, March has been a rather eventful month for me.
Exams, Guest-playing for Bedok Town Alumni Band Concert, Exam results and in less than 48 hours time, playing for TP Band Concert. and of course, my eventful work. Haha talk about summarizing a month in less than fifty words, but thats how it went. TP Band Practice to BT Band Practice. Tp Band Practice to work. I guess, what's nice and good about working in the Customer Service Industry is that each day is always different. It kinda makes you see the beauty of change and the benefits of variety and, definitely the uniqueness and differences between individuals.
Of course, then again, being in TP Concert Band itself already opens my eyes to new heights of insight into people's character.
People say... work and personal life is to be separated. Does that mean your character has to be spliced into two? If then, it is indeed spliced into two, so would it then explain why people may act all high and mighty, command people around, treating them as if they were mere infants, yet be humble and a good role model outside work? And, if it's normal, then it would be safe to say people expect people to be hypocrites or two-faced right? So then, hypocrisy would be passed down from generation to generation and would not cease to exist, because well, supply has to meet demand.
Had voting for the next main comm a few days ago. Disappointed to say the very least, cause it seems certain persons holding significant positions have botched up, and their it's their swan song. Well, you definitely have to give a round of applause to it. Just when everybody was getting into the mood, it has to spoil everything and treat us as secondary school students having their first concert.
Sigh, the people I wanted to vote to be in main comm didn't qualify. Sigh. If only.. I was more bhb and ticked my name. Got chance I might garner a position in the comm.
Made a couple of new friends recently. Actually 2 la. And not really made new friends. Their status just upgraded from Acquaintance to Friend/Trusted Peer. And! One of them is a thinker. An in-depth thinker. Which is kinda cool.
I've always pondered about those who doeth plenty and thinketh none. After all, thinking does help stimulate the mind and improve the quality of thoughts. True, that thinking would produce One answer for every Ten questioned pondered, but sometimes we should pause, take a breather and ponder over the significance of our existence.
Some people have questioned the possibility of success for the upcoming concert. I've been thinking about this, and you know. I see satisfaction, both in the audience and in the band. Sure, technically speaking, we aren't really there yet, but what is There? So what if we can play each note on cue, get the rhythm right, articulate correctly, but have no passion? True, each of us have had a different band upbringing, we all came from different band cultures, we all have different expectations, different playing skills, different ways of expressions through music, which of course could be a melting pot for disasters. Then again, wouldn't this unique mix be a boon and actually bring us to greater heights due to the complex combinations of all our 'same same but different' experiences?
Fret not about the success, but worry whether you have enough emotions to last the night. Cause the layman won't understand Resonance or Fermata or Ritardando but he will know what he listens cause the heart tells him, whether the current piece is about love or sadness or nostalgia or sailors who sail the seven seas and miss home.
Worry not about the ticket sales, cause one satisfied patron is worth more than ten unsatisfied patrons.
Rather, focus on yourself; your memories; your first love; your first brush with death; your long lost friends; cause only by recalling and drawing the emotions from these memories will your music have expressions, not of a literal kind, but of an emotional kind that will touch the audience body, mind and soul.
Friends, band-mates! Be of good cheer as the concert draws near!
