Local Games

While on a very long bus ride, my mind wandered and concluded maybe we need local games. Now, these games would most definitely appear to be rip-offs of internationally acclaimed games, yet when infused with local culture (and images), they might just be successful. Here are some of my ideas:

1) Taxi taxi.

Have you ever dreamt of being your own boss? Be a taxi driver today! Choose from a variety of models, and drive your fare-paying passengers around the streets of Singapore.

You can play the game in two versions - campaign, or chiong ah! In the first version, you start as a cab driver with the simplest car model available. You can choose if you want a full shift or a day or night half shift, and then you're off to pick up passengers, and abide by the law. This means no driving on the sidewalks, or beating red lights, or speeding. Over time, as your level and income increases, you get to unlock newer and better car models, and upgrade your vehicle. You also get to unlock new functions such as advance bookings.

In chiong ah! You have to earn as much income as you can within certain time limits, ranging from thirty seconds, to a day. You don't have to play by the rules in this version, though you should note that damages to your taxi will affect its speed.

2) Cooking zi cha

Why eat when you can cook it too? A localized time-management game, you own a zi cha store. You serve customers to their seats, then cook the dishes, like mui fan or chilli crab or hotplate tofu, and then serve to your customers, collect the bill and you're done.

When starting up, you have to do everything yourself. However, when you level up and have more cash, you can splurge on equipment upgrades, hiring more chefs or servers, and even outsource your clearing of rubbish! You can also choose to purchase tv sets or getai performances to entertain customers while they wait for food.
