of opera

Sleeves that fly and sway against
The air, and brushes,
And shuffling of feet.

Of emperors amidst crashing cymbals,
Of princesses and partaking of wine,
And beauty and moon and long notes,
Is opera.

Tugging of strings repeatedly melody
And tunes.
Oh no!
The emperor is nowhere to be found!

A scandal emerges. A concubine!
Alas, the music heightens.

To get sent away, and get married
Without choice but the safety
Peace and harmony of two nations
Two warring states.

How great thou sacrifice. To live in a strange land, for the sake of your homeland.
